Can I use the opener with a broken spring?
Do not operate a door with a suspected broken spring. The opener does not replace the balancing function of the spring, and further operation may be unsafe.
Should both garage door springs be replaced?
For a door with two springs, DASMA recommends replacing both when one breaks. Ask the technician to explain the recommendation for your system and identify the parts in the quote. Not every door uses the same spring arrangement.
Does a broken spring mean I need a new garage door or opener?
Not automatically. The condition of the door, opener and remaining hardware determines whether a spring replacement is sufficient or whether other work is needed. Ask which recommendations address the failure and which are optional upgrades.
Can you tell which spring I need from a photo?
A photo may help explain the existing setup, but appearance alone does not establish the correct replacement. Final selection needs to match the door and its configuration. Do not handle a spring or climb near a damaged door to collect measurements.
