Which opener problem sounds familiar?

A broken opener shaft, a new Chamberlain and a spring repair
On this job, the old garage door opener had a broken shaft. We replaced it with a new Chamberlain garage door opener with a DC motor and completed a spring repair on the same door.

Garage door sensor and control repairs
A door that starts to close and then reverses may have a sensor problem, but the controls or the door’s movement can also be involved. Tell us whether the wall button, remote or keypad still works and if any lights flash. We check the cause before recommending parts. Share the opener’s brand or model if you can read it safely; there’s no need to climb up to the motor.
Does it need a repair or a new opener?
We can discuss what has failed, whether repair parts are available and what a replacement would cost. You may also want a new opener for features your current one doesn’t have. A stronger motor won’t fix a heavy or unbalanced door, though. The door needs to move correctly first.
Choosing a new garage door opener
If there’s a bedroom beside or above the garage, ask about quieter belt-drive or wall-mounted options. For power outages, look for battery backup. For checking or operating the door from your phone, ask about smart controls. Features and fit vary by model, so tell us what matters most to you.
Garage door opener installation cost
The opener you choose, the existing setup and any door repairs needed before installation affect the cost. Review whether the quote includes the rail, controls, safety sensors, removal of the old opener and setup. We’ll explain which remotes or keypads you can keep and which need replacing. Ask for the product and installation warranty details, and confirm the service-call charge before the visit.
Keep the safety system working.
Do not bypass photo-eye sensors or increase force settings to make a door close. Keep people clear while the door moves. Once service is complete, ask for a demonstration of the controls and safety features, along with the manufacturer’s instructions for your model. If the door is crooked, jammed or visibly damaged, stop using it and request an assessment.

Before you schedule
Will a new opener fix a heavy or unbalanced door?
No. The door and its balancing system need to work correctly first. Fitting a new opener without fixing the door won’t solve that problem.
Can I keep existing remotes?
Sometimes. Compatibility depends on the opener and control model. Include any keypad, vehicle-integrated control or extra remote you rely on when discussing a replacement, so you know what can stay and what needs to change.
Does a reversing door always mean the safety sensors are bad?
No. Tell us where the door reverses, whether anything blocks the opening and if you notice flashing lights. We may need to check the sensors, controls and door movement. Don’t bypass the safety system.
Does garage door sensor repair require a new opener?
Not always. Depending on the cause and your model, the existing sensors may need attention or replacement parts may be available. We’ll explain what is needed after checking the system. Do not bypass a sensor to make the door close.
Will a smart opener work during a power outage?
Smartphone connectivity does not mean an opener has battery backup. Ask whether the selected model includes backup power and what functions remain available during an outage. Internet access and the opener’s power supply are separate requirements.
What should I include in an opener service request?
Include the service address, the symptoms, whether the door is open or closed and any safely available model information. Tell us if you want a repair assessment or are planning an upgrade. Our team will contact you to confirm the visit; submitting the form does not reserve a time.
